Fastned signed agreements for 26 new high-traffic locations² and opened 17 stations across its European network during Q3, a substantial increase compared to previous years. Build pace is ramping up with 65 stations currently under construction, which is almost double the number of last year, this puts the company in a good position to deliver on its 2026 target of 476-506 operational stations.

The market for public fast charging continued to strengthen, with battery-electric vehicles representing 28.0% of new vehicle registrations in Fastned’s operating markets in July and August. This was supported by the growing range of electric vehicle models on offer and cheaper batteries, driving down purchase prices for consumers. Additionally, high fuel prices are encouraging more people to go electric. The European Commission’s Electrification Action Plan, published in July, has further reinforced the long-term policy direction towards greater use of electricity across transport, buildings and industry.

Revenue and volume growth increases

Station sales volumes grew in the third quarter, with annualised average volume delivered per station reaching 596 MWh. Organic volume growth³ was 27% in Q3 2026, broadly in line with 29% growth in the BEV fleet across Fastned’s operating markets⁴.

Volume growth supported the rise in charging revenue to €51.3 million. The reported revenue includes €5.1 million related to Dutch e-credits for the first quarter of 2026, which were transferred in Q3 after the Dutch government portal reopened, following a temporary closure. Like for like revenue related to charging was €46.3 million, up 47% yoy. This one-off timing effect has no impact on Q3 gross profit.

Supported by the third quarter's holiday traffic, year-to-date annualised revenue per station reached €395,000, tracking close to the upper end of Fastned’s 2026 guidance range of €350,000 to €400,000. Historically, the fourth quarter is the largest quarter of the year as a result of the growing number of EVs on the road, as well as low temperatures increasing charging demand.

Broadening commercial reach

Fastned continued to broaden its customer propositions across private drivers, businesses and fleets. In September, the company announced a partnership with ANWB, a Dutch mobility organisation, to extend its reach among private drivers in the Netherlands. Through the partnership, Fastned is promoted to more than 600,000 ANWB Charge Card users, while subscribers can receive 10% off charging at Fastned stations across Europe. The partnership also includes educational programmes on electric driving.

Scaling the European network

Fastned continued to scale its network across its European markets during Q3. In Belgium, Fastned reached 60 stations and expanded its presence in Wallonia with the opening of Libin Galaxia. With 12 charging points of up to 400 kW, the station is one of the largest in the region. It was developed in cooperation with IDELUX, as part of a broader plan to expand fast-charging infrastructure across Wallonia.

In Germany, where the company is headed towards the 70-station mark, Fastned has now built 17 stations on German highways as part of Deutschlandnetz.

The highway and regional tenders have given Fastned access to government funding, and more importantly, to attractive sites and search areas across the country, including some of its most densely populated regions. These tender wins put Fastned on a trajectory to substantially grow its network in Germany.

In France, the opening of Thionville Yutz also marked the launch of Fastned’s first kiosk in the country. The kiosk strengthens the customer proposition at locations where on-site amenities are limited. By opening sites with Fastned amenities, the company can tap into another big pool of private and public land without sufficient third party amenities.

New bond issue and company milestone reached

During Q3, Fastned launched its third bond issuance of 2026 as part of its ongoing retail bond programme, supporting the company’s network expansion. The issuance remains open until 30 October 2026.

In Q3, Fastned achieved a significant milestone under the employee option plan introduced at the time of its Euronext Amsterdam listing in 2019, enabling employees to share in the value created as the company grows. The plan combines 10 operational and market-capitalisation milestones to reach the company’s 2030 targets. A milestone was achieved after annual revenue exceeded €100 million in 2025 and market capitalisation surpassed €700 million in Q3, unlocking options representing 1% of all outstanding shares to be distributed among employees.

Fastned reiterates 2026 guidance

Fastned reiterates its full-year 2026 guidance:

• 70 to 100 new stations operational by year-end (476 to 506 stations operational)
• Average revenue per station of €350,000 to €400,000
• Operational EBITDA margin of approximately 45%

Fastned remains focused on growing charging revenue, improving station performance and delivering its planned network expansion across Europe.

Electric Vehicle (EV) drivers on the A1 can now power up with a side of 1950s nostalgia, as

Powered entirely by 100% renewable energy, charge point operator, Fastned, and OK Diner joined forces to pull out all the stops for visiting drivers, as they launched the new ultra rapid charging hub in true American 1950s fashion. 

Guests could soak up the retro atmosphere with a signature Fastned milkshake from OK Diner while watching The Daisies, a live band of three singers, perform. The band’s speakers were powered by a Farizon EV van, demonstrating that the energy for the entertainment could come from an electric vehicle too. Also on show was a classic red Porsche 911 converted to an EV and provided by Retro Electric.

There was plenty to charge up the appetite too. Guests could enjoy 25% off their bill for up to four people at OK Diner, while the first 50 customers to charge from 5 October received a £10 Fastned voucher, redeemable via the Fastned app and valid for two weeks, until 18 October.

Each charger at Fastned’s new ultra-rapid hub offers up to 400 kW of charging power, capable of adding as much as 200 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

So, Fastned became the “UK’s driveway for the day" by offering motorists a free average charge (£25 charging credit).

Changes to VAT on electric vehicle charging coming into force today will deepen the UK’s already stark “driveway divide”, as VAT on home energy falls from 5% to 0% across England, Scotland and Wales, while public charging remains at 20%. 

It is estimated that the 20% VAT difference alone for public charging can amount to more than £270 per driver over the course of a year, with over two thirds (68%) of the population stating that this disparity is unfair, in new research commissioned by Fastned, one of the UK’s leading networks of ultra-rapid charging hubs.  

Fastned, has teamed up with  Ginny Buckley, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Electrifying.com, the country’s largest EV portal, to call on the Government to level the playing field on VAT for EV charging and ensure drivers without access to home charging are not left paying more.

So, with 9 million UK households lacking a driveway or dedicated parking space , today, on 1st October, Fastned hubs across the UK will become a "nationwide driveway for the day". All drivers can gain a free £25 charging credit,  approximately equivalent to the average cost of a public charging session at Fastned, at all of 41 Fastned charging hubs across the UK.

To claim the free £25 charging credit, drivers need to use the code VAT2026 in the Fastned app. (The discount code can be added to your account from 00:01, 1st Oct, until 23:59 on 2nd October 2026 and drivers will then have 3 days to use the charging credit once applied to their account).

Fastned, the nature-inspired EV charging network powered by 100% green energy, has partnered with Ginny Buckley, of Electrifying.com, to challenge this cost disparity. 

To support this campaign Fastned have released new research which shows that seven in ten (70%) drivers say paying extra each year because they cannot charge at home would make them less likely to buy an EV, but say that reducing the disparity could encourage more people to make the switch to an electric vehicle.

The six-month cut comes into effect on 1 October, meaning drivers who can charge at home will benefit from lower VAT while those reliant on public charging will continue to pay the higher rate.  Among drivers who do not currently own a fully electric vehicle, 57% say cutting VAT on public charging to 0%, would make them more likely to consider buying an EV.

Three in five (61%) UK drivers say they weren’t aware of the difference in tax treatment between home and public charging and two thirds (68%) said they felt it was unfair and penalised those without driveways. As a result, six in ten (60%) drivers say they would support government action to bring public charging VAT down to 0%.

The latest SMMT figures for car sales shows that pure electric vehicles now make up 30% of all new car sales, but the research also reveals that this VAT disparity could become a significant barrier to EV adoption.

Fastned, a leading European fast charging network, today announces it has joined the Digital Charging Solutions (DCS) Preferred Partner Program (PPP), effective 1 July 2026.
Fastned joins the program across all of its operating markets: the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and Denmark, with Austria already secured ahead of its market launch.

Fastned’s H1 2026 Update of 13 August 2026 reported operational EBITDA more than doubling to €37.4 million from €17.9 million year-on-year, while underlying company EBITDA increased from €1.4 million to €13.7 million. The company reported a 38% increase in renewable energy delivered year-on-year, alongside 40% growth in revenue related to charging, across 4.1 million charging sessions. 28 new Fastned locations opened to drivers during H1 2026.

Fastned’s first bond issue of 2026 closed with a total €32.4 million raised, while the second issue raised €36.5 million. In 2025 investors contributed a combined total of over €110 million across three rounds of bonds. Taking place from 7–11 September, the rally sees teams tackle the UK’s trunk roads, motorways and rural routes, completing a series of daily checkpoint challenges along the way.

Now in its sixth year, the Greenfleet ‘Mythbusters’ EV Rally covers more than 1,000 miles putting electric vehicles and charging infrastructure to the test in real-world conditions. The teams will tackle misconceptions around everything from EV range and charging to cost, reliability and performance, and demonstrating what electric vehicles are really capable of on the road.

Operational EBITDA more than doubled to €37.4 million from €17.9m in H1 2025. Underlying company EBITDA increased from €1.4 million in H1 2025 to €13.7 million in H1 2026, as Fastned accelerated both station rollout and commercial growth across Europe. Gross profit related to charging grew by 61% year-on-year to €66m, with a 17% increase in gross profit per kWh.

Revenue related to charging increased by 40% year-on-year to €75.1 million. Fastned’s cash position stood at €100.7m at the end of H1 2026.

The reported revenue is negatively influenced by €5 million relating to Dutch e-credits for the first quarter of 2026. Although quantities and price for the e-credits have been contractually agreed, legal title for these unit transfers could not be recognised for IFRS reporting during H1 due to the Dutch government portal being temporarily unavailable (see official announcement here). This is expected to be recognised as revenue in Q3 2026. This one-off situation has no impact on H1 2026 gross profit due to a compensating impact within cost of sales. Fastned opened 28 new stations - a record for the company in the first half of the year - taking its network to 434 operational stations across nine countries as of 30 June 2026. The company also added 60 new locations to its development pipeline. An additional 8 Fastned stations were opened between the end of H1 and the publication date of the Interim Report.

Maturing network sparking sustainable growth

In H1 2026, Fastned delivered 112.3 GWh of renewable energy, an increase of 38% compared with the same period last year. The network supported 4.1 million charging sessions, up 34%, powering an estimated 562.2 million electric kilometres and avoiding 101.9 kilotonnes of CO₂ equivalent.

Gross profit related to charging rose by 61% to €66.0 million, with the related gross margin increasing from 76% in H1 2025 to 88% in H1 2026.

Operational EBITDA reached €37.4 million, compared with €17.9 million in H1 2025, representing growth of 109% and greater than the equivalent figure for the full 12 months of 2025.

Underlying company EBITDA, which includes the costs of expanding the network, increased to €13.7 million, compared with €1.4 million in the first half of 2025.

Fastned’s net loss narrowed to €13.0 million, a 29% decrease from €18.3 million in H1 2025.

Ramping up the rollout across Europe

After passing the milestone of 400 stations in late 2025, Fastned opened 28 new stations during the first half of 2026. This represents a 65% increase in new openings compared with H1 2025: the company’s strongest first half for station openings to date, showing the company’s success in improving its construction pace.

Fastned’s network reached 434 operational stations across the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Denmark, Italy and Spain as of 30 June 2026. Including these operational stations, the company’s total portfolio of locations grew to 723 at the end of the reporting period.

Germany was a standout market during H1 2026. Fastned reached its 60-station milestone in the country during the second quarter, with 12 new stations opening in Germany in Q2 alone.

In the United Kingdom, Fastned opened its first station under its joint venture with Places for London, Transport for London’s property company. The large charging hub at Hatton Cross, close to Heathrow Airport, demonstrates Fastned’s ability to bring its product to cities, as well as motorway locations.

Fastned made significant progress in overcoming bottlenecks in the station development process:

• 60 new locations were added to our development pipeline during H1 2026.
• 68 building permits obtained, an increase of 89% compared with H1 2025.
• 36 stations were upgraded or expanded across the network.
• New Country Directors were appointed in France, Switzerland and Denmark to support the next phase of growth.

Growing customer engagement and commercial reach

Fastned’s commercial performance was supported by growth across both private and professional customer segments.

The number of Gold Members doubled from approximately 5,000 to 10,000 during H1 2026. Gold is Fastned’s monthly subscription offering, providing regular users with a 30% discount on charging.

Fastned introduced a physical B2B charge card with more than 36 fleets onboarded to date, and expanded roaming access through third-party platforms and collaborations including ChargeLeague. These developments broaden access to Fastned’s network and support demand from professional and fleet customers alongside private drivers.

Network reliability remained high, with uptime of 99.3% during the period. Reliability remains an essential element of Fastned’s customer proposition and is a key reason drivers return to Fastned’s stations.

Equity, bonds, institutional funding: three pillars for sustainable growth

During H1 2026, Fastned further diversified its funding structure by establishing bank financing as a formal third pillar alongside its Euronext Amsterdam listing and retail bond programme.

In January 2026, Fastned closed a green loan facility of up to €200 million from a syndicate comprising ABN AMRO, Crédit Agricole, ING, Invest-NL and Rabobank. An initial €100 million of committed capital has been allocated to fund station rollout in Belgium and Switzerland over a three-year availability period, with an option for a further €100 million to support expansion in other Fastned markets.This facility provides Fastned with access to institutional debt markets on terms that reflect the growing scale and maturity of its business.

Fastned also completed two retail bond campaigns during the first half of 2026. The first campaign, which closed in March 2026, raised €32.4 million and represented the 20th tranche in the company’s retail bond programme. The second campaign closed on 21 June 2026 and raised €36.5 million, including €35.1 million in new investment, a record amount for a single Fastned bond campaign.

Together, the two campaigns raised approximately €69 million from individual investors in the Netherlands and Belgium. Total outstanding retail bonds reached €337 million, and more than 12,000 bondholders have now invested in Fastned.

Market Outlook

Europe’s shift to electric mobility continued to accelerate in the first half of 2026, despite persistent geopolitical uncertainty. New EU car registrations increased by 5.7% year-on-year, while battery-electric vehicles reached a 20.7% market share, up from 15.6% in H1 2025. Some of Europe’s largest markets recorded particularly strong BEV growth, including France (up 62.9%), Germany, (up 48%), and Denmark (up 41.2%).

In total, over 1.2 million new battery-electric cars were registered across the EU in H1 2026. Across the EU, EFTA and the UK, market share rose from 17.5% in H1 2025 to 22.2% in H1 2026.

In contrast, petrol and diesel vehicles together fell to 29.9% of new registrations, down from 37.8% a year earlier.

Guidance updated: operational EBITDA margin to ~45%

In Fastned’s Q4 2025 Update the company communicated the following guidance for the full year 2026:

• 70-100 new stations operational by year end
• Revenues of €350,000 to €400,000 per station (full-year average), and
• Operational EBITDA margin of 35–40%.

Now, based on these H1 results and the market outlook, Fastned is updating its FY 2026 guidance for operational EBITDA margin. Fastned now expects:

• Operational EBITDA margin of ~45% for FY 2026.

The guidance related to station rollout and average revenues per station remain unchanged. Full-year operational EBITDA will be confirmed in Fastned’s 2026 Annual Report.

As more drivers take to the roads in electric vehicles (EV), Fastned, the EV charging network powered by 100% renewable energy, commissioned research among 2,000 UK drivers, including 1,000 dedicated EV drivers, to explore the nation’s changing attitudes towards summer road trips.

One of the top findings from the survey revealed that 87% of Brits have already travelled, or would consider travelling, to staycation destinations by electric vehicle.

In fact, 90% of EV drivers surveyed (net majority) said they were firmly behind ultra-rapid charging, offered by the likes of Fastned, which could allow most motorists to charge their EV with up to 300 miles of range, in just 20 minutes, helping them reach their countryside and coastal destinations quicker.

With 51 per cent of Brits saying they are more likely to holiday in the UK than they were five years ago, Britain’s great road trips are proving there’s plenty of reason to stay local and hit the road this summer. The research also revealed the top 10 destinations for electric vehicle road trippers, with Norfolk and North East England ranking among the top five.

County Durham, the Kentish Coast and the Suffolk Coast also featured in the top 10, offering drivers a stress-free getaway with plenty of opportunities to recharge both their vehicle and themselves.

Confidence in the UK’s public charging infrastructure is also at an all-time high, with 81% of EV motorists surveyed saying they feel assured that the charging network can now support them on long-distance journeys.

Tom Hurst, UK Country Director at Fastned, said: “We believe the driver comes first, so we looked to uncover what the future of summer road trips looks like for UK motorists, including specifically EV drivers. From where people are heading to what makes a great staycation destination, we wanted to explore how travel habits are shifting gears and what’s powering the next generation of road trips.

“Across much of mainland Europe, there’s a well-known phenomenon called ‘Black Weekend’ or ‘Black Saturday’, the moment when millions of people hit the roads at the same time to head to their favourite beaches, coastlines and countryside spots for their summer getaway. Think ‘Black Friday’, but for summer travel.

“We were intrigued to find out whether Britain is starting to develop its own version and whether EV drivers are helping to drive a new era of summer travel.”

According to the research, the weekend of 7th August was identified by those polled as the UK’s peak summer getaway weekend, making it possibly the UK’s equivalent of Europe’s “Black Weekend” (or “Black Saturday”), a popular term used across Europe to describe the busiest summer travel period within the country. In fact, over the past five years, 56 per cent said they have consciously moved towards a lifestyle more traditionally associated with countries like Spain, France, Monaco and Italy.

Carried out through OnePoll, the UK Summer Travel research also found:

• Four in 10 people (40 per cent) now eat outdoors more frequently than they used to, while 26 per cent have adopted a slower pace of life.
• Around three in 10 (28 per cent) now take more time to enjoy and savour meals, and 37 per cent like spending more time outdoors and enjoying their surroundings.

Many Fastned hubs also offer on-site amenities to make charging stops more convenient and comfortable, with facilities such as toilets, refreshments and nearby food options available at selected locations.

Fastned and Vereniging Elektrische Rijders (VER) welcomed policymakers, local authorities, charge point operators, fleet leaders and industry experts to the inaugural Plugged In Café in London earlier this month.

Inspired by Fastned and VER’s successful EV Café events in the Netherlands, the first UK edition brought together voices from across the public and private sectors to explore how stronger partnerships can accelerate London’s transition to electric mobility.

Hosted at The Conduit in Covent Garden, the event created a new forum for collaboration, bringing together key stakeholders from across the EV ecosystem to exchange ideas, tackle shared challenges and help shape the future of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Designing an EV city around real-world charging needs

The event featured three expert panel discussions exploring the biggest opportunities and barriers shaping London’s rapidly evolving EV charging landscape.

The opening session examined how charging infrastructure must adapt to serve an increasingly diverse range of users. Moderated by Ellen Hiep (VER), the panel brought together Olly Craughan (DPD UK), Tanya Sinclair (Electric Vehicles UK) and Judith Hayton (Transport for London).

From private motorists and commercial fleets to taxis and last-mile delivery operators, the discussion highlighted the vastly different charging needs across the transport network. Panellists agreed that a diverse range of users can only be served by a diverse range of charging solutions, with no single approach able to meet every need.

As London electrifies, on-street charging and ultra-rapid charging hubs will play a vital role in supporting those without access to home charging, while enabling businesses and fleets to transition to electric. Understanding real-world behaviour and the operational needs of different users will be essential when planning the charging infrastructure of the future.

Building the charging ecosystem

Next, panellists examined the wider charging ecosystem, exploring the building blocks needed to support the EV transition.

Moderated by Fastned, this panel brought together Eleanor Clark (Transport for London), John Colgan (Places for London) and Zak Bond (Clean Cities) to explore what it will take to deliver charging infrastructure at scale.

The discussion concluded that building a future-ready charging network is about far more than installing charge points. Grid capacity, strategic land availability, investment, digital technology and strong public-private partnerships were all identified as essential ingredients in creating a reliable, accessible and resilient charging ecosystem.

Unlocking London’s charging future

Rounding off the afternoon before guests continued the conversation over drinks and nibbles, the final panel, “Policy, Planning and Permits - How do we unlock London’s charging future?”, brought together Tom Hurst (Fastned), Jarrod Birch (Charge UK) and Mark Fletcher (London Councils), with Ellen Hiep returning to moderate a lively discussion on the policy and planning changes needed to accelerate London’s EV charging rollout.

The conversation highlighted the critical role local authorities can play in removing barriers to deployment through clear electrification strategies, consistent planning decisions and stronger collaboration with industry partners.

Collaboration is key

A recurring theme throughout the afternoon was that London’s charging ecosystem must be designed around the needs of an increasingly diverse mix of users, from private drivers and commercial fleets to taxis and public transport providers.

Commercial fleets were recognised as a defining force in the evolution of new mobility, with speakers highlighting the importance of charging infrastructure that reflects the operational realities of businesses transitioning to electric.

While reducing unnecessary car movements and enabling home charging remain important levers for decarbonisation, the discussion reinforced that accessible public charging, including on-street charging and ultra-rapid charging hubs, will be essential to ensuring no driver or business is left behind.

Speakers also highlighted the need for more opportunities for national government, local authorities and the private sector to work together, sharing requirements, addressing challenges and finding solutions to deliver charging infrastructure more quickly and equitably.

Looking ahead

The inaugural Plugged In Café highlighted the value of bringing together experts from across government, transport and industry to share knowledge, address common challenges and identify practical solutions for the future of EV charging.

Funds raised will support Fastned's network expansion as sales of electric cars rose sharply during the first half of 2026. According to the European Alternative Fuels Observatory there are now over 11 million fully electric cars registered across the EU, UK and EFTA.   

Fastned’s network of fast charging stations spans nine countries, with 423 stations serving electric drivers across Europe. The company reported strong results for Q1 2026, generating €39.2 million in revenue related to charging (up 40% year-on-year and a new quarterly high for the company) and welcoming drivers for over 2.1 million charging sessions, delivering 55.6 GWh of renewable energy.

This tranche of retail bonds, which closed on Sunday 21 June 2026, was the 21st in Fastned's bond programme. Of the total €36.5m raised, €35.1m consisted of new investments - a Fastned record for a single round - while €1.4m came from long-standing supporters extending their investments from earlier tranches. This latest tranche brings the total outstanding amount of retail bonds to €337 million. 

To date, €45 million worth of bonds have been repaid by Fastned and €81 million worth of bonds have been extended by investors prior to reaching maturity, showing investors’ continued support for Fastned. In January 2026 Fastned secured a bank financing facility of up to €200 million from a lending syndicate made up of ABN AMRO, Credit Agricole, ING, Invest-NL and Rabobank, initially supporting expansion in Belgium and Switzerland. In June the company officially opened the first ultra-rapid hub in London at Hatton Cross (close to Heathrow Airport) as part of its partnership with Places for London, the property company of Transport for London. 

In early June 2026 the company also welcomed partners, investors and friends for an evening of discussion and Q+A at Fastned Behind the Scenes. On 22 June 2026 Fastned confirmed its intention to create two new roles as it accelerates its path towards profitable growth: a Chief Commercial Officer and a Vice-President Technology. Fastned will publish its interim report (covering H1 2026) on 13 August 2026.

Both roles mark a decisive move to convert Fastned's growing network into sustainable commercial returns, while actively building the technological foundation that will define the next generation of fast-charging infrastructure. Fastned is actively recruiting for both roles and will provide further updates as appointments are confirmed. The formal appointment of the Chief Commercial Officer as a member of the Fastned Management Board will be subject to approval at an extraordinary Shareholder Meeting, which will be called in due course.

The Fastned and Places for London partnership has officially opened its first state-of-the-art ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging hub at Hatton Cross Underground station on Friday 12 June 2026, marking a major milestone for London’s green transport infrastructure. 

Launched by Seb Dance (Deputy Mayor for Transport), Mete Coban MBE (Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy), and Andy Lord (London’s Transport Commissioner), alongside Fastned Co-founder and CEO Michiel Langezaal and Fastned UK Director Tom Hurst, the event also featured a zero-emission capable black cab, ambulance, and TfL van, showcasing the growing range of electric fleet capability now available. To celebrate the official opening, the new Hatton Cross charging hub will offer five days of free charging, from Monday 15 June to Friday 19 June 2026. Drivers just need to turn up, authorise their charge with their normal payment method and then enjoy free charging on Fastned.

The new EV hub, part of work to deliver on the Mayor’s manifesto target of up to 40,000 charge points in London by 2030, is the first of 25 planned to be delivered across London by the partnership, has been designed with accessibility and comfort in mind. It includes extra-wide bays and two fully accessible charging spaces in line with the latest British Standards Institution guidance, alongside weather protection provided by Fastned’s signature yellow solar canopies. The hub also has CCTV coverage throughout the site and 24/7 multilingual customer support, ensuring a safe, easy and enjoyable experience for all users. 

Open 24/7 and powered entirely by renewable energy, the hub features 12 ultra-rapid (400kW) charging bays, capable of delivering up to 100 miles (around 160 kilometres) of range in just five minutes. It is strategically located within easy access to Heathrow Airport, the M25, M4 and A30, making it a convenient stop for airport commuters, residents, taxi and private hire drivers, and business fleets.  

Many drivers, particularly in London, depend on public charging, with the UK having around 2 million battery electric vehicles on the roads now, and around 40 per cent of UK households lacking off-street parking. Designed for vehicles of all sizes, from cars and taxis to vans and smaller commercial vehicles, the hub helps tackle London’s space constraints, providing a welcome option where home or depot charging is not available.

The capital leads the way in EV uptake nationally, with more than 175,000 battery electric cars and vans already registered in the capital. EV numbers on the road in London are projected to reach to over 1 million by 2030, making up to 36 per cent of London's car and van fleet. This hub contributes directly to 2030 forecasts for EV infrastructure and marks a tipping point for London as over half of the high-powered chargers needed by the end of the decade have now been delivered.

The partnership aims to make ultra-fast charging more accessible by creating a city-wide network of hubs which are thoughtfully designed for all users, with planning already in place for a flagship 36-bay location at Hanger Lane and an 8-bay hub at East Finchley Underground station car park.

Three other sites are within the planning process across Newham, Haringey, and Barking and Dagenham, with a further seven sites due to be submitted for borough review by the end of the year. Alongside accessible charging, every site will also deliver community benefits, with a share of revenue supporting local projects and climate initiatives. The partnership is also dedicated to tackling the growing “green skills” gap, providing apprenticeships, work experience placements, and employment opportunities to help upskill Londoners and secure the future of the city’s green transition.

Places for London is the dedicated commercial property arm of Transport for London (TfL). Operating with independent financing, it focuses on developing residential and commercial spaces where people are proud to live and work. As a long-term steward, its strategy prioritises inclusive partnerships and community engagement.

Fastned Gentbrugge North and South opened in September 2025 and are Fastned’s largest locations to date. These locations showcase an emissions-free vision of what EV fast charging can look like, with fast charging for cars and trucks alongside a restaurant, 24/7 self-service shop, outdoor play area, picnic tables and well-maintained toilets and showers.

The station's design draws on natural materials and sustainable processes throughout. A timber structure and green roof greet drivers on arrival, while large windows maximise natural light, with the facade oriented towards a picnic area and tree line rather than the highway. Soil excavated during groundworks has been repurposed to form sheltering hills around the site, forming a calming environment. In place of a standard concrete ground floor slab, a layer of seashells provides structural stability without the use of concrete. Where concrete is required (such as in the column footings) recycled material is used.

Mechanical systems are fully integrated within the walls, with ventilation delivered through side grills rather than overhead pipework or a dropped ceiling. The result is a clean, unobstructed ceiling that reinforces the sense of space and calm that Fastned's nature-inspired stations are designed to provide - a place where drivers can stop, charge, and feel at ease.

This award follows Fastned’s nomination in the 2025 DesignEuropa Industry Awards, where its unique Solar Tree design was chosen from among 1250 designs as one of 3 finalists.

Over drinks and a walking dinner, guests mingled and chatted with Fastned experts while enjoying presentations and Q+A sessions on topics ranging from charging technology to commercial growth.     

Fastned Co-founder and CEO Michiel Langezaal opened the evening with a recap of Fastned’s journey and key values, elaborating on our high-traffic location strategy, our unique vertically-integrated business model, and striving to give drivers the best charging experience available.

Following Michiel, interim CFO Remco Samuels looked back at 2025 and 2026 so far and gave insights into Fastned’s financial performance, station economics and funding potential. Remco also updated guests on Fastned’s increasing push towards station amenities such as retail facilities and toilets, as well as expanding on the company’s strategic priorities for the rest of 2026. 

Guests then rotated between four informal break-out sessions, each hosted by Fastned experts and focusing on a specific aspect of Fastned’s business. 

Luc Bronk (Senior Partnerships Manager) and Seth van Roemberg (Lead Technology Solutions) presented a talk on charging technology, giving explainers on Fastned’s newly-launched 1000 kW charger and trials of battery storage, while showing how our unique in-house charger management system allows us to maintain over 99% uptime. 

Caroline Hoefsloot (Director of Marketing and Communications) and Albert den Boogert (Director of Growth) discussed how Fastned’s brand visibility and commercial offering has grown along with the business, and are helping us reach millions of drivers every day. 

Roland van der Put (Head of Energy Management) spoke about energy sourcing, showing how we find the best balance between solar and wind energy and giving examples of the sustainable, long-term contracts which are essential for our growth. Patricia Allam (Head of Funding and Investor Relations) gave a deep-dive on the company’s finances, covering cost engine optimisations and our diversifying funding base. All Fastned speakers mingled and took further questions from guests throughout the evening. 

Over nearly 15 years, Fastned has grown from an ambitious independent start-up into a European leader in fast charging, with more than 400 locations across 9 countries powering almost 7 million charging sessions to drivers in 2025 - and we’re on track to beat that in 2026.

Jérôme Janssen (46) is Co-Head of Infrastructure Equity Investments at Schroders Capital, a role he has held since January 2019. Prior to this, he led infrastructure investments at Crédit Agricole Assurances, a leading European institutional investor.

In addition to his role at Schroders Capital, Jérôme is a board member of BelEnergia SA, a European renewable energy group that develops and operates solar, wind and biowaste projects, and of Autobahnplus A8 GmbH, the private concession holder of the A8 motorway section between Munich and Augsburg.

He previously held several non-executive board positions at major European infrastructure companies, including Indigo (Europe's leading car park operator), CLH (oil logistics leader in Spain), TDF (French media and telecom infrastructure operator), Téréga (gas transport and storage operator in France) and Aéroports de Lyon.

With his in-depth knowledge of infrastructure investments and his broad experience across the European energy sector, Jérôme makes a strong contribution in the Fastned's supervisory board. He looks forward to contributing to Fastned's continued growth and international expansion, in line with its mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility.

Opening early next year, the hub will provide a major boost to London's and the UK's EV infrastructure and play a crucial role in enabling zero-emission travel throughout the Capital. 

The new ultra-rapid charging hub, powered entirely by renewable energy, will feature 36 bays that offer EV drivers the capability to charge up to 100 miles of range in just 5 minutes. Conveniently located off the North Circular (A406) near Hanger Lane, a key London arterial road, it will serve hundreds of drivers daily. 

Fastned and Places for London's Hanger Lane hub will feature a retail space and restroom facilities, offering essential amenities for drivers. Benches and a playground outside will help create a welcoming community space, giving families and local residents a place to pause while children can play safely as drivers recharge. Fastned's signature yellow solar canopies will provide shelter in inclement weather, alongside lighting and CCTV to ensure safety on site. 

With around 64 per cent of outer London households lacking access to off-street parking, many drivers rely on public charging infrastructure, particularly in urban areas. Fastned has designed the Hanger Lane hub, ensuring it meets the needs of local residents, commuters, visitors and commercial operators such as local businesses and taxi or private hire cars. The hub provides accessible charging for vehicles of all sizes, from cars and taxis to vans and smaller trucks, helping address the limited opportunities for private charging at homes or commercial depots due to London's space constraints. 

Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy Mete Coban said: "This new, rapid charging hub, the largest in London, will support hundreds of Londoners who have already made the transition to electric vehicles. 

"There are more than 27,900 public electric vehicle charge points in London - over a third of the UK's total charging network - and, working with partners like Fastned, we can continue to grow our network and support many more Londoners to switch to cleaner, greener vehicles." 

The hub will also provide a crucial solution for businesses transitioning to electric fleets, particularly those operating from the nearby Park Royal industrial estate, London's largest area of Strategic Industrial Land.

Our Travel Demand Survey in 2024 showed that most households in London, including 93 per cent in inner London and 64 per cent in outer London, do not have access to off-street parking in a driveway or garage London's EV transition.

The number of electric vehicles on the road in London is projected to rise to between Im to 1.4m by 2030, making up 34% to 49% of London's car and van fleet. Up to 40,0000 publicly accessible chargers are expected to be needed to meet this demand. London leads the way in the uptake of EV vehicles in the UK, with around 193,000 plug-in electric cars and vans already registered in the capital. The city has almost 28,000 charge points to date, which is over 30% of all EV charging infrastructure across the UK and more than any other UK region.

Investments will contribute to growing Fastned’s network of fast-charging stations across new and existing markets, providing fast charging services to capitalise on the recently accelerated growth in EV sales across Europe and the continued support of national and European authorities for comprehensive fast charging infrastructure. 

The Fastned network currently comprises 418 stations in nine countries, with over 180 fast charging stations in the Netherlands and over 50 in Belgium, including the largest Fastned location to date at Gentbrugge. To further strengthen these networks Fastned has a stable development pipeline in each country, with 34 locations secured for future development in Belgium and 34 secured in the Netherlands (at end of Q1 2026) as the company continues to scale.

Fastned’s Q1 2026 Update (published 16 April 2026) reported year-on-year growth of 40% in revenue related to charging for the quarter and a 28% increase in total charging sessions to 2.1 million while reiterating its full-year guidance for 2026. The company also reported a new green loan facility of up to €200 million with a consortium of leading European banks and lenders as well as newly-opened stations in Denmark, France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

Fastned’s first bond issue of 2026 closed on 10 March 2026. Of the total €32.4 million raised, €30m consisted of new investments while over €2m came from long-standing supporters extending their investments from earlier tranches. In 2025 Fastned raised a combined total of over €110 million across three rounds of bonds; in 2024 the total was over €82 million, also across three rounds. 

To date €45 million worth of bonds have been repaid by Fastned and €79 million worth of bonds have been extended by investors prior to reaching maturity, demonstrating consistent investor support.

Fastned Gentbrugge North and South opened in September 2025 and are our largest locations to date. These locations showcase an emissions-free vision of what EV fast charging can look like, with fast charging for cars and trucks alongside a restaurant, 24/7 self-service shop, outdoor play area, picnic tables and well-maintained toilets and showers.

The retail areas (meaning the shop and restaurant) have been nominated in the ‘sustainable commercial building’ category, alongside 4 other finalists. One winner will be determined by a distinguished jury, and the other will be chosen by a public vote with winners to be announced in June 2026. Last year over 300,000 votes were cast for the Public Choice Award.

We asked Max Boerman, Product Owner Retail Design, to tell us what makes Fastned Gentbrugge’s shop and restaurant so special.

Hi Max, congratulations to you and your team on the nomination! What is so unique about Fastned Gentbrugge, and what makes its shop and restaurant stand out?

Think of a typical highway stop: it’s dark, cramped, full of advertisements and maybe not smelling great. Then step into Fastned Gentbrugge - the difference is enormous. 

Every element used is inspired by nature: the timber structure and green roof that you see the moment you arrive, the large windows that bring natural light into the interior, and the greenery that surrounds the building. The facade opens towards the picnic area and the trees rather than the highway - and we even reused the soil from the groundworks to create sheltering hills around the site. These aren't just aesthetic choices. They're about giving people a genuinely calm, welcoming place to stop and charge, in a place you actually want to be.

The Architizer A+Awards nomination is in the ‘sustainable commercial building’ category. How have you made Gentbrugge sustainable?

From the start, we wanted to push sustainability beyond what's standard. The whole site operates with zero emissions, but we wanted to find new ways to innovate in design and construction. I’m especially proud of what we did to reduce our use of concrete in construction. Instead of a standard concrete slab on the ground floor - which most timber buildings use - we used a layer of seashells to achieve stability without any concrete at all. Where we do use concrete, for example in the column footings, it’s recycled. 

At every stage, we are selective about who we work with and we choose the best partners and contractors to find solutions that go well beyond what is standard, and really find new ways to build beautifully and sustainably.

We often speak about our nature-inspired and human-centric design - can you show us an example of this inside the building?

Just look up! Most retail areas have big air conditioning pipes hanging overhead, or a fake ceiling to hide all the equipment. We wanted to avoid this industrial, cold feel to the building, so we built everything within the walls, with ventilation grills blowing air in from the sides. It adds some complexity to the structure, but the result is a clean, calm ceiling that enhances the feeling of space and relaxation. 

Ten air conditioning units overhead would have completely destroyed that feeling of being surrounded by nature, and made it just another retail space. We want to do better than that: bring that spacious human touch that really makes buildings feel special.

What does a project like Gentbrugge mean for the future of Fastned retail?

Gentbrugge is a flagship: an ambitious vision to show what’s possible. We can’t replicate this everywhere because most sites aren’t as big as these ones! 

We’re rolling out smaller modular retail facilities, keeping what matters most: the human-centric approach and the nature-inspired feel.  All the learnings from Gentbrugge carried forward into something we can begin to scale more widely, but that still feels special when you walk in.

So does that mean we will we see more shops and restaurants across Fastned's network?

Definitely. Fast charging is our core business and always will be. But we want customers to know that when they come to Fastned, there's a good place to rest, use the toilets, and get a decent coffee. If there's something nearby already, that’s great - but if there's nothing, we'll provide it.

Maybe that will be a full shop and restaurant like Gentbrugge, or maybe a smaller self-service kiosk with good coffee, snacks and a clean toilet. We want every driver to know that whenever you stop at Fastned, your needs are taken care of.

What is the impact of architecture and design on Fastned's mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility?

I hope Gentbrugge shows people what the charging experience can actually be: calm, pleasant, in a beautiful location where people want to spend time. We’ve even seen people driving combustion engine cars stopping here, just because they loved the feeling of the place. We don’t sell petrol, so these drivers are coming just to spend time in a place they like. That shows the impact we can have. 

Design and architecture have a real role to play in making the transition accessible to everyone, and showing people that going electric isn't a compromise. It can mean a genuinely better experience, good for people and good for the planet.

This reflects consistent and strengthening growth on the back of a once-again accelerating European EV market, with almost 9 million electric vehicles now registered in Fastned’s nine active markets. EV market share was up 16% year-on-year across Europe in January and February, with early data indicating significant further increases in March. 

Fastned opened 8 new stations on its network during Q1 2026 across Denmark, Italy, France and the United Kingdom, while 4 more stations were expanded or upgraded during the quarter. At the end of Q1 2026 the Fastned network extended to 414 fast charging stations across Europe.

Rising charging revenue and station economics

Fastned's annualised revenue per station of €387,000 in Q1 2026 (compared with €325,000 in Q1 2025) continues the company's efficiency trajectory, supported by organic growth in charging demand as the European EV fleet expands with strong momentum. Gross profit increased 63% year-on-year to €32.1m, reflecting an increase in the prices of e-credits.

The company also announced that Victor van Dijk has been appointed to a newly-created role of VP Strategy after serving as CFO of Fastned since 2019. This reflects the progression of the business; having crossed the €100 million annual revenue mark for the first time in 2025 (confirmed in Fastned's Annual Report 2025) and with a diversified, three-pillar funding structure now in place, Fastned is entering a new phase in which Victor will bring his finance perspective on shaping Fastned's long-term vision and capabilities, setting priorities for the organisation and continuing to develop the associated equity story.

Until the role is permanently filled, Remco Samuels will serve as Interim CFO of Fastned. Remco brings extensive finance and industry leadership experience, having led EVBox as CEO, and following several finance leadership positions at Engie. Remco also knows Fastned well, having been part of Fastned’s finance department for the last six months.

Bank financing becomes third pillar of funding

In January 2026, Fastned secured a €200 million green loan facility from a lending syndicate of ABN AMRO, CreditAgricole, ING, Invest-NL and Rabobank, marking the first time the company has established bank financing as a source of funding.

An initial €100 million has been committed to fund new charging stations in Belgium and Switzerland, with an option for a further €100 million to support expansion into other Fastned markets.

This facility adds a third pillar to Fastned's funding structure, alongside its retail bond programme and equity listing. Adding long‑term bank financing as a third pillar allows Fastned to further diversify its funding and increase flexibility in how growth is financed across Fastned’s international network.

The company also raised over €32m in the latest tranche of retail bonds, which closed in March 2026. This followed bond issues totalling over €100m in 2025 and €80m in 2024. Since 2017, Fastned has raised over €300 million to fund its expansion through its bond programme, supported by more than 10,000 individual investors. 

Fastned has now raised over €740 million in total funding, including retail bonds. Together, these three pillars of funding give Fastned one of the most resilient and diversified capital structures among European fast charging companies, reducing dependency on any single funding channel and providing long-term visibility for the company's growth plans. 

New in-country leadership for Denmark, France and Switzerland

In Q1 Fastned continued building its in-country teams with the appointment of three new Country Directors across the network. 

Jesper Krüger Søndergaard has taken the role in Denmark, Sarah Wodehouse is Fastned’s new leader in France, and Christine Zingg-Graf will lead the team in Switzerland.

These appointments reflect Fastned’s next step in Europe: accelerating in market execution and strengthening local decision-making to secure the locations and partnerships that will shape long term market positions in fast charging. 

German court rules in Fastned’s favour: EV charging is its own separate industry and locations must go out to tender

On 6 March 2026, the Oberlandesgericht Düsseldorf ruled in favour of Fastned in a procurement review case against Die Autobahn GmbH des Bundes. The ruling confirms that fast charging is its own unique industry, and access to motorway charging locations must be awarded through open and transparent tendering procedures - a principle Fastned has advocated and fought for since the company’s foundation. 

This principle, previously confirmed in the Netherlands, has now been reinforced at the highest level in Germany, showing how increasing market access in one country can influence progress across the wider EU. As demand for fast charging continues to grow, open and competitive access to prime highway locations remains a critical determinant of the quality of charging infrastructure available to European drivers. 

EV adoption accelerating in key markets

The shift away from fossil fuel cars in Europe is accelerating. In January and February 2026, battery-electric vehicles represented 19.6% of all new car sales across the EU, EFTA and UK - up 16% from  a year earlier. 

Over the same period, the combined market share of petrol and diesel cars fell from 37.5% to 30%. The market share gap between electric and fossil fuel car sales has narrowed from 20 percentage points to just 10.4 percentage points in a single year. 

Across the EU specifically, petrol car registrations fell by 23.3% year-on-year, with France recording a decline of 48.5%. Growth in battery-electric registrations was particularly strong in two of Fastned's key markets: France (+38.5% year-on-year) and Germany (+26.3%).

Energy price volatility driving EV momentum

Energy prices - and particularly prices at the petrol pump - rose sharply towards the end of Q1 2026 as a result of conflict in Iran and related supply issues, with petrol prices around Europe 15% higher in early April 2026 than they were in February 2026.  

While the situation is still evolving, these events are providing further momentum to the electric transition while highlighting the urgent need to decouple European mobility from imported fossil fuels, both for individual drivers and for Europe’s energy security and sovereignty. 

As a pure-play charging company delivering exclusively renewable electricity, Fastned’s exposure to the negative effects of this crisis is expected to be limited. While uncertainty and oil price volatility can be expected to continue in the short-to-medium term, Fastned expects that growing consumer familiarity with EVs, accelerated by the current oil price shock, will permanently expand the market for public fast charging.

Guidance for 2026 unchanged

Fastned reiterates its guidance for the full year 2026, as communicated in the company’s Q4 2025 Update: 

• 70-100 new stations operational by year end
• Revenues of €350,000 to €400,000 per station (full-year average), and
• Operational EBITDA margin of 35–40%.

Scaling a connected European network: growth momentum and ambition

Fastned is rapidly scaling its European network and now operates over 400 fast charging stations across nine countries. The company’s long term ambition is to continue expanding across Europe towards a network of 1,000 large, scalable charging locations by 2030.
This growth in volume and footprint, also reflected in the recent 2025 Annual Report, has been delivered through a strategic and disciplined approach to securing crucial sites EV drivers need most, through a mix of competitive tenders and direct partnerships with landowners, developers and retailers. The new additions to the leadership team strengthen Fastned’s ability to turn ambition into delivery, prioritising the right corridors, building a robust pipeline and bringing high quality stations to market across three strategically important countries.

France: accelerating market leadership

France is already one of Fastned’s largest growth engines, with the company surpassing the 50 station milestone in 2025. Recent tender wins have further positioned Fastned at the forefront of France’s transition to fully electric service areas, combining high power chargers, high quality amenities and distinctive architecture to stand out from competitors and attract both EV drivers and real estate partners.

As part of this next phase, current Country Director France, Pierre Courgeon, will move into a new strategic role focused on reinforcing Fastned’s operational leadership, while continuing to support the development of the French business. Sarah Wodehouse will succeed him as Country Director France, marking the next step in Fastned’s strategy: moving from rapid rollout to sustained, market shaping scale.

Switzerland: strengthening a strategic market at the heart of Europe

Switzerland is a pivotal and fast evolving EV market in Fastned’s European network, both as a natural cross border corridor and as a country with a growing EV adoption. It connects EV drivers travelling between northern Europe, the Alps, Italy and the Mediterranean, while serving the everyday charging needs of Swiss drivers, from private car owners to heavy-duty vehicles. Its compact size makes it particularly well-suited for EV uptake, as shorter distances between urban agglomerations mean that a well-placed charging network can cover the entire country efficiently, lowering range anxiety and accelerating the transition to electric mobility. 
Fastned has been active in Switzerland for several years and holds one of the major concession packages awarded under the federal highway programme by ASTRA, giving the company long term rights to develop a broad set of high potential sites along key national routes. Building on this foundation, Fastned is expanding its Swiss network by combining motorway locations with strategically chosen sites near major cities and travel hubs.

With Christine Zingg-Graf as Country Director, the company is ready to drive the next stage of growth in this strategic cross border market. Denmark: winning ground in a high potential market

A senior commercial leader with deep experience in the energy sector and a strong track record of delivering profitable growth and business transformation across Scandinavia, Jesper will drive a multi track growth approach, combining selective tenders with privately sourced locations and partnerships, to further expand Fastned’s presence across the country.

With these appointments, Fastned is reinforcing the local leadership needed to deliver on its European growth ambitions, turning a strong pipeline and strategy into more high quality stations on the ground for EV drivers across the continent.

Victor van Dijk, who has served as Chief Financial Officer since 2019, will transition into a newly created role as Vice President of Strategy and will resign as a Statutory Director and CFO from the Management Board, effective 26 March 2026. 

As VP Strategy, Victor will focus on shaping Fastned's long-term vision and capabilities, setting priorities to the organisation and developing our equity story. Victor will work closely with the Board and the wider leadership team to ensure that Fastned's strategy - spanning from network development and pricing to amenities and technology - is consistently anchored in strong financial and investment logic.

Recruiting a new CFO

Until the role is permanently filled, Remco Samuels will serve as Interim CFO of Fastned. Remco brings extensive finance and industry leadership experience, having led EVBox as CEO, and following several finance leadership positions at Engie. Remco also knows Fastned well, having been part of Fastned’s finance department for the last six months.

Fastned will immediately begin a search for a new CFO. The incoming CFO will be a seasoned finance executive with a strong track record in operational financial management, and will be focused on bringing Fastned to profitability, strengthening financial control frameworks and supporting the company's continued expansion across Europe.

This milestone reflects the continued expansion of Fastned's network and the sustained increase in demand for fast charging, alongside consistent growth in the number of fully electric cars on Europe’s roads, which now surpasses 10 million, with over 8.5 million in Fastned’s nine operational markets. 

Revenue, station economics, and costs
 

€100m+ boundary broken 

Revenue related to charging increased to €122.4 million: up 47% year-on-year (2024: €83.4m). In two years, Fastned has more than doubled its yearly charging revenue (2023: €60.5m). 

Operational EBITDA grew 34% to €43.6 million - demonstrating strong and improving unit economics as the network scales. This corresponds to an operational EBITDA margin of 36%, in line with the 2025 guidance range of 35-40%.

Gross profit related to charging increased by 41% to €96.2 million,  driven by strong volume growth coupled with higher gross profit margins per kWh. 

Revenue per station improved to €331,000  (2024: €270,000). As indicated in Fastned’s Q4 2025 update, this is in line with the guidance for 2025 of a full-year average of more than €325,000 per station per year. This demonstrates that existing stations are becoming more productive and increasingly profitable as the network scales.

Retail investor support

Over €110 million was raised to support expansion in 2025 through the company’s bond programme. Across three tranches, Fastned’s retail investor community raised €36.5 million (February), €34.7 million (June), and €39.1 million (November) to support expansion - with the latter being Fastned's most successful single bond issue to date. 

This funding from thousands of individual retail investors demonstrates confidence in the business model for EV fast charging and in Fastned's strategy and growth plans. Following a further round in early 2026, total outstanding retail bonds now exceed €301 million.

Scaling with discipline

Network operation costs were €52.5 million (+47% vs 2024), in line with network expansion and activity. Network expansion costs increased to €33.9 million (+48% vs 2024), reflecting continued investment in new stations and capacity. Underlying company EBITDA was €8.3 million, indicating a balance between improved operations and deliberate investment in expansion.

Expansion at scale

A European network: 9 countries and counting

Fastned’s mission is to accelerate the transition to e-mobility all over Europe. For the first time, more Fastned stations are now located outside the Netherlands (222 locations) than inside (184 locations). This represents the company’s transformation from a domestic company with international operations to a continental leader in fast charging.

At year-end 2025, Fastned operated 406 fast charging stations across nine countries: up from 346 stations across seven countries at the end of 2024.

New markets and milestones

• The company added 60 new operational stations in 2025 (vs. 50 in 2024).
• The company secured 94 new sites in its development pipeline for a year-end total of 663 secured locations  (including 406 operational stations) - nearly two-thirds of the locations required to achieve its target of 1000 stations.
• Fastned brought stations to two new countries: Italy (in February at Truck Park Brescia Est, on the busy A4 Brescia-Verona freight corridor) and Spain (October on the C-32 corridor south of Barcelona).
• The first Fastned station directly on Germany's Autobahn opened in July at Neufelder Heide-Süd).
• Milestones were hit across the network: Belgium and Germany both surpassed 50 operational stations, ending 2025 at 52 and 54 stations respectively. France reached 50 stations in July 2025, ending the year at 59.
   

Station upgrades and capacity expansion

As well as 60 new stations opening in 2025, 35 existing stations were expanded, upgraded or redeveloped, reflecting a strategy to increase density and utilisation at our highest-performing locations.

Retail, trucks, and flagships

In 2025 Fastned continued adding kiosks, shops and toilets to selected stations throughout the network. As the EV market matures, drivers increasingly need more than just reliable fast charging; they need a drink, good food to eat, and a restroom break during a long journey. Fastned will continue to develop its retail concept throughout 2026.

Heavy-duty vehicles account for approximately 25% of Europe's road transport emissions. To accelerate the transition for trucks too, Fastned has deployed 400 kW truck chargers with dedicated lanes for large heavy-duty vehicles at various stations across our network. 

These facilities came together in two new flagship stations in Gentbrugge, Belgium: each an all-electric service area operating with zero emissions, opened in September 2025. These are Fastned's largest stations to date, serving both sides of a busy highway and providing car and truck charging alongside a 350+ capacity restaurant, a self-service shop open 24/7, safe outdoor play area, and clean toilets and showers. 

Usage and impact

• Energy delivered across the network increased 30% year-on-year to 183.0 GWh.
• Charging sessions grew 26% to 6.8 million.
• Fastned powered 914.8 million electric kilometres and avoided 165.9 kilotonnes of CO₂ equivalent.
• Europe's EV fleet surpassed 10 million vehicles in 2025; registrations of new EVs rose nearly 30% year-on-year across the EU. 

Innovation, Technology & Advocacy

Addressing Europe's grid bottleneck

Grid capacity remains the single biggest constraint on fast-charging deployment across Europe and requires urgent attention to complete the transition to electric mobility. Fastned is contributing to solutions with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) pilots, introduced at multiple stations in 2025 and into 2026. These BESS installations are designed to support high‑power charging where grid connections alone would not be sufficient, and to provide more flexibility and stability as demand grows with increased EV uptake.

In 2025 Fastned also piloted a new one megawatt-class charger (the Alpitronic HYC 1000) at Aalscholver in the Netherlands, learning more about how the next generation of EV infrastructure behaves in the field.

Large-scale charging deployment will require coordinated investment in electricity infrastructure at national and European level. As an industry leader whose business depends on grid availability, Fastned advocates at EU and national level for grid modernisation as critical to the transport transition.

Industry leadership: making the case for the transition

In 2025 Fastned strengthened its role as an influential force in European EV charging through multiple leadership and advocacy initiatives:

• ChargeUp Europe: CEO Michiel Langezaal was elected President of ChargeUp Europe and began his term in early 2025. He brings long-standing expertise and independent operator perspectives to the group, including in the European Commission's Strategic Automotive Dialogue meeting with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in March.
• ChargeLeague: Along with three other leading charging companies, Fastned co-founded ChargeLeague to align industry standards and accelerate sector development, with the aim of providing the simplest and most accessible experience for every EV driver in Europe.
• Green Industrial Grids Association (GIGA): Matt Ersin, Fastned Director of Government & Public Affairs, was elected as the first Chair of the newly-founded group GIGA, advocating for fundamental grid modernisation as a critical enabler of fast-charging growth.
• EU policy: European Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra visited Fastned's Gentbrugge station in 2025, reflecting fast charging's growing role in EU climate and industrial policy discussions.
