Fastned, UK’s best-rated electric vehicle (EV) charging station operator, brings second station to the South West of England
- Electric Vehicle (EV) drivers in Swindon, Wiltshire can now experience Fastned, the UK’s best charge point operator as rated by Zap-Map.
- Fastned today launches a new “ultra-rapid” 300 kW station at Barnfield Close, just off the B4006.
- The site will initially have four operational charging bays, with capacity to expand to 10, powered by 100% renewable energy.
- It marks Fastned's second site in the South West, after announcing its first in Melksham earlier this week.
Swindon, England, September 2023: Fastned, the European rapid charging company, has today opened its second ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging station in the South West of England.
The site, in Swindon, Wiltshire is based at Barnfield Close, off the B4006, and situated next to a Starbucks, Subway and Travelodge.
Four charging bays at the site will be fully operational from launch and are supplied by 100% renewable energy. The chargers at each bay are capable of adding up to 300 miles of range to fully-electric cars in 20 minutes. The site is capable of hosting up to ten charging bays in the future.
Drivers living in and visiting Swindon can now benefit from the UK’s best-rated EV charging station. This is our second site in the region and we look forward to welcoming drivers to our highly visible, easy-to-use ultra rapid charging site.
The launch means Fastned now has 17 stations in the UK, with two in the South West. The Melksham site, based at Commerce Way, just off the A350, opened earlier this week and features six charging bays.
The new Swindon station features Fastned’s recognisable “wing” lighting columns that help EV drivers to locate the site and navigate visually. Reliable and easy-to-use ultra-rapid chargers, as well as a range of payment methods, mean drivers can charge easily and with confidence and get back on the road as quickly as possible.
Changing how we travel is a critical part of addressing climate change and a rapid transition away from using fossil fuels. More cycling, walking and cleaner forms of transport including electric vehicles are all part of the answer.
It’s positive to see the commercial sector invest in solutions in Swindon, such as this initiative by Fastned to create an ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging station.
