Fastned, UK’s best-rated electric vehicle (EV) charging station operator, brings ultra-rapid charging to Dover
A brand new ultra-rapid (400kW) charging hub opens today near the Port of Dover, providing a quick charging boost for up to six electric drivers traveling to and from Europe.
Today Fastned, the European fast-charging company rated the UK’s best ultra-rapid EV charging network by What Car?, opens a new electric vehicle charging hub with six chargers near the Port of Dover.
The site is located on the A20 across from the Dover Marina. It is a prime location for anyone using the Port of Dover to travel to and from the European continent and along England’s South coast. Additionally, it brings a new high-speed EV facility to Dover for locals, not just tourists.
Six charging bays are supplied with 100% renewable energy, offering drivers up to 300 miles of range in 20 minutes. The launch means Fastned now has 30 hubs in the UK.
This is the first UK hub that seamlessly connects with Fastned’s European charging network. Drivers making their way to France can easily charge at Fastned’s hub in Aire de Saint Hilaire Cottes which is just south of Calais. Long-distance travel in an EV to France and other European countries will therefore be much easier with this new charging hub.
Fastned’s reliable and easy-to-use ultra-rapid chargers, offering a range of payment methods, mean drivers can charge easily with confidence and get back on the road as quickly as possible.
The new charging hub features Fastned’s illuminated yellow wings, which help EV drivers locate the site easily and show drivers who have not yet made the switch to electric that fast charging is available to them. This helps to accelerate the EV transition in the UK as a whole.
The site also includes a Costa Coffee Drive Thru, making it an ideal choice for customers on the move or for those seeking a restful break mid-journey. The Drive Thru store provides a quick and convenient way to enjoy your favourite handcrafted Costa coffee while charging.
Summer road trips to Europe will now be much easier with our new charging hub near the Port of Dover. Drivers will no longer have to worry about getting on the ferry with low battery, they can now easily top up just before they start their holiday.
The new Costa drive-thru and Fastned electric vehicle charging bays provide an additional traveller welfare facility just before our customers set sail across to France.
