New ultra-rapid EV charging station opens in Freebridge, enhancing UK’s ultra-rapid charging infrastructure
Fastned, the UK and Europe’s best rated ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging company, continues its network expansion with the opening of a new 400kW charging hub in Freebridge.
(London, 5 June 2025): Fastned, voted the UK’s best rated ultra-rapid charging network by What Car? and by medium sized network by Zap Map, has opened a new ultra-rapid charging hub in King’s Lynn. The station, which features an initial six charging bays powered by 100% renewable energy, offers up to 400kW of power – delivering up to 100 miles of charge in as little as 5 minutes.
Located off the A47, the Freebridge hub is built in Fastned’s signature drive-thru format with overhead canopies, providing an easy, convenient and weather-protected charging experience which puts people first. This investment represents another step in Fastned’s mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility in the UK and beyond.
The Freebridge opening supports the ongoing need for a more robust and widely available ultra-rapid charging network across the country. Whilst EV adoption continues to rise, the charging infrastructure must keep pace – particularly with the UK Government’s 2030 deadline to end the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles fast approaching.
Fastned’s latest station adds to its growing UK network, which now includes 34 operational hubs and more than 360 across Europe. Each station is powered by 100% renewable energy, supporting a cleaner, greener transport future.
