Hemel Hempstead plugs into the future with free charging week at new ultra-rapid Fastned hub

 Fastned, the nature-inspired EV charging network powered by 100% green energy, has officially launched its newest ultra-rapid hub in the heart of Hemel Hempstead.

Located at Jarman Way, the site features eight ultra-rapid charging bays sheltered by Fastned’s signature yellow canopy. These high-power chargers are capable of delivering up to 400 kW, which could add as much as 200 miles (333 km) of range in just 10 minutes. Drivers can also enjoy a variety of local amenities, as the hub sits directly next to a new Burger King, with Tesco, Nando’s, McDonald's, and Lidl all within a short walk.

To celebrate the official opening, Fastned Hemel Hempstead will offer a  week of free charging, from this weekend to EV drivers from Friday  15 to Sunday 22 May 2026. Drivers just need to turn up, authorise their charge with their normal payment method and then enjoy free charging on Fastned.* (Promotion runs from 00:01 on 15.05.2026 until 11:59 on 22.05.2026, or until the site energy cap of 20MWh has been reached, whichever is sooner).

 As part of the Cooper Estates Developments Limited site, the new hub joins Fastned’s growing UK network, bringing reliable, high-quality charging infrastructure to one of Hertfordshire’s key travel corridors and supporting more drivers to switch to electric vehicles.

Marking another milestone in Fastned’s UK expansion, the ultra-rapid charging hubs are designed to be easy, safe and comfortable for everyone. Extra-wide bays make parking and manoeuvring simple including for drivers using wheelchairs or mobility aids, while suspended cable systems remove the heavy lifting from ultra-rapid charging. Bright, open layouts with clear sightlines, high-quality lighting and CCTV coverage create a welcoming environment that prioritises accessibility, safety and ease of use.

This latest opening builds on Fastned’s recent expansion across the UK, in the North East, Fastned recently opened two new stations at Newcastle Airport and in Sunderland.
